Combined heat and power plant,
Beckum (Germany)

With the objective of a closed water cycle in the fibre cement production the manufacturer Eternit focuses for the plant site Beckum on a carbon dioxide based wastewater treatment. The normally harmful greenhouse gas CO2 neutralizes the pH-value of the accruing process water nearly completely and contributes to the protection of the environment. Afterwards, the water is subjected to a biological cleaning process and is subsequently returned to the water cycle. Furthermore, Eternit commits to an energy and resource saving production process. In Beckum a combined heat and power plant (CHP) generates 80% of the energy required for the production by using the principle of power-heat coupling (CHP): With it, the operation of the system is considerably more efficient and environmentally friendly. In year 2011, thermofin® delivered for the new CHP in Beckum dry coolers of the series TDH with fans in hot air version.
